Located just south of the New Jersey capitol, Bordentown is situated along the Delaware River.  With roots dating back to 1682, Bordentown has had many notable residents throughout its history, including: Francis Hopkinson (signer of the Declaration of Independence), Thomas Paine, Joseph Bonaparte (older brother to Napoleon, and exile King of Spain and Naples), and Clara Barton (founder of the first free public school and American Red Cross).


Centrally located between New York City and Philadelphia, there are plenty transportation options in Bordentown.  The River Line stops in Bordentown City, and there is easy access to all major highways: the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 295, Route 130, Route 206.


It’s no wonder Bordentown’s 15,000 residents enjoy the town: there are plenty of social and recreational activities.  Annual activities include the Street Fair(the first full weekend in May), the Cranberry Festival (the first full weekend in October), Halloween Parade, and Tree Lighting Ceremonies.  The recently founded Foundation for Bordentown Traditions organizes community events to promote town unity and raise funds to host the Independence Day Celebration complete with fireworks.


The Bordentown Regional School District consists of two elementary schools (grades kindergarten – 3), an intermediate school (grades 4-6), a middle school (grades 7-8) and the newly constructed high school (grades 9-12).
